Visiting Parliament Hill is a wonderful way to experience Canada’s democracy in action and explore our nation’s history and architecture. Whether you’d like to watch live proceedings in the House of Commons or take a guided tour of Parliament’s iconic buildings, there are several free options available year-round.

Guided Tours

Although the main Parliament Building (Centre Block) is currently closed for rehabilitation, visitors can still explore Parliament through guided tours of the following sites:

• House of Commons at West Block

• Senate of Canada Building

• East Block (available during the summer months only)

You can also experience the story of Parliament Hill through an innovative exhibition and 360° multimedia show, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of Centre Block and the work of Canada’s Parliament.

All tours are free of charge and available in English or French.

Watching Live Proceedings in the House of Commons

When the House of Commons is in session, visitors are welcome to watch live proceedings (including Question Period) in the House of Commons from the public galleries on a first-come first-served basis.

Question Period runs from:

• 2:15PM to 3:15PM every Monday through Thursday, and

• 11:15AM to 12:00PM every Friday

We suggest arriving 45 minutes early to allow time for security screening.

Seating in the public galleries is available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Constituents of Kitchener–Conestoga and their guests may request reserved seating through the office of Member of Parliament Tim Louis. If you are not a constituent of Kitchener–Conestoga, please use this online tool to find your Member of Parliament and contact their office directly.

To ensure availability, please request a seat reservation as far in advance as possible by contacting our office. Please include the names, phone numbers and email addresses of all attendees, as well as the date you'd like to attend.  Unfortunately, same-day requests cannot be accommodated, and group bookings (10 or more guests) may take additional time to process.
